Lorimer Horse Brooch

The Lorimer Horse Brooch is sculpture first and jewellery second. The horse's head is cast in high-polish metal with true anatomy in it, the ear pricked forward, the cheek muscle defined, the muzzle slightly lowered. Its mane flows back as a series of ridged strands, and along every strand runs a row of round lab grown diamonds, 78 in total, so the mane moves with light while the face stays calm.

The diamonds were cut and set in Surat by a family workshop with fifty years of diamond experience, and they include six larger rounds set at the roots of the mane. Together they weigh 1.7 carat of laboratory-grown diamonds, graded VVS-VS clarity and D-E-F colour and certified by IGI and SGL. The brooch is about 31 mm square and is made in BIS hallmarked 9k, 14k or 18k gold in yellow, rose or white finishes.

Pin it to a tweed lapel for a race day, to an equestrian jacket, or to a coat collar in winter. It is the gift for a rider, a polo enthusiast or the father who always loved horses more than jewellery.
