The Lucien Emerald Cut Ring is quiet in the way that expensive things are quiet. The single emerald cut lab grown diamond is set sideways, its long axis following the line of the finger, inside a band that is bevelled to a soft ridge on each side. The step facets of the cut return light in broad flashes, like a hall of mirrors seen from the end.

The stone was cut in Surat by a family workshop that has worked with diamonds for fifty years and knows that an emerald cut hides nothing. It is a laboratory-grown diamond of 1 carat, graded VVS-VS clarity and D-E-F colour and certified by IGI and SGL. The band is about 4.9 mm wide, made in BIS hallmarked 9k, 14k or 18k gold in yellow, rose or white finishes, with space for a twelve character engraving inside.

The east-west setting sits well under a cuff and pairs cleanly with a slim dress watch. It is a men's engagement ring for someone who did not want a round, or a fifth anniversary ring that will still look modern at the twenty-fifth.
